( rei has been to the coven infirmary more often than he's comfortable with admitting, whether it be for himself or to check in on someone else, but today he's here because he was recommended a return visit to ensure his injuries are healing rightly.
(and to check up on someone else.)
presuming there's a front desk or a general waiting area of some sort, he gets himself checked in and is told to take a seat and wait for assistance from one of the witches here. as usual lately, he's dressed in a high-collar blouse with long sleeves with material pointedly opaque; meaning, it's far too hot for the weather, but, well. )
[tori's seen far too many of his seniors here, as of late, and taken care of them. ritsu was troublesome for the other nurses, and when it became apparent that tori knew the snappy vampire-turning koga they'd quickly put him in charge of that one too; koga wasn't looking so great either, and only seemed to get worse as the days past.
and now there's rei.
he pauses mid-walk and stares at the familiar senior (more in the sense that ritsu and he look alike than any real knowledge outside of passing glances, to be frank,) breathing out sourly as he checks in with the receptionist and trots over to the other with a clipboard held in his arms. similar to rei, he's very much wearing longer sleeves with gloves to boot, nothing that should be summer weather.]
Um~, Sakuma-senpai, right? I'm supposed to take care of you, so follow me.
[rather, he'd volunteered; whatever witch was originally in charge is getting a free break. like with any of his seniors, tori doesn't exactly feel a right to demand what they're doing here, why they can't just be adults and deal with it themselves, but maybe it's just a check up as some monsters have...
(how long until he found kaoru coming here for more than a visit..?)]
Diligent as ever, I see. I apologize for forcing you to look after a senior.
( of course he knows of tori, eichi's protégé and another schoolmate unfortunately spirited away with the rest of them, even if they hadn't interacted much in yumenosaki proper. and, given how tori seems so distant with him, rei presumes tori's memories likely align on this fact.
he pushes himself up from his seat and does well to follow after tori, embarrassing as it slightly is to be so weakened as to trail after an underclassman when it's the seniors who ought to be the ones doing the taking-care-of (seniority may not matter much here, but it's the principle of the thing).
at least, he's doing well until they're a little down the hall, just before they get to wherever tori's taking him probably, and rei, without warning, falls flat on his face,
onto tori. oof. his nose is also bleeding just slightly, which isn't super normal unless you're delicate. )
It's not the first time, so it's whatever~. You guys really can't take care of yourselves, huh? Talk about disappointing.
[fine is the best, after all...
he's bringing rei to a check up area to, well, check up on him when something hard hits him in the back and he lands on the ground too.
this? this was supposed to be the hotshot prez before eichi-sama? he's heavy is what he is, and tori groans loudly as he just. is on the ground. his face? his body? the adorableness that is he, is now dirtied?
he doesn't complain while he's in the infirmary though, just huffs and wriggles away enough he can turn and stare back at rei in like, disappoinyance. disappointment-annoyance.
...... before he just looks away and sighs, teleporting rei a little ways in front of himself so he can stand and come over, peeking through the file... do these things have monster types, that sounds like fun to know, but regardless he'll hold out his tiny hands to rei. this. sort of reminds him of eichi, in a delicate sense of health way, and that terrifies him the way it usually does with the other.]
I don't usually let people lean on me, but I'll allow you that honor until you can actually lay down. Okay?
that isn't his first thought nor is it his general sentiment, but it is always a little awkward to see how striking the difference in blessings is between monster-aligned and witch, especially tori is, again, by far younger and the party meant to be looked after.
still, disorienting as it is to be one place and then suddenly another, he's grateful to not be pancaking his little pink comrade, as is he grateful for the helping-up. embarrassed still, but grateful.
he sighs, and, trying not to grimace at nor think too hard about the scent of blood right there in his nose, takes tori by the hands delicately. tori looks even littler than 2wink or ritsu, so he sort of wonders if he won't topple him over if he's not careful with how he pulls his weight. )
I appreciate the privilege, young one. This is . . . unfortunately, one of the matters regarding which I'd considered receiving consultation.
( he...! carefully tries to pull himself up, but. the effort seems to stop at the waist, where his legs don't even shift naturally in response to the movements of his upper body. god, this sucks.
hopefully tori has braced himself for this appointment because this senpai has a laundry list of issues with which he needs assistance. )
. . . If you lack a spell for this occasion, it should return in a moment or two if we wait.
[tori's ready for the weight this time, is the difference, even if he knows it'll be hard to stay balanced at first... but it seems he doesn't need to brace that much at first because, uh,
hm. okay, so, like koga, transformation troubles..? maybe he should've let one of the more experienced witches handle this. but tori knows it's comforting to see a familiar face, even if it's only vaguely familiar.]
Ugh... We're gonna have to, I don't have anything that can help.
[the coven, in general, does though, something enchanted maybe... they can wait a moment and tori'll be ready to hold more of his weight this time.]
( sooo embarrassing, but he forces himself to relax as they wait it out. )
I've felt a little weaker in my legs for a few weeks now, but the past few days marks the start of when they've simply chosen arbitrary times to enter a strike. I suspect . . . it's simply consequent of the type of monster I've been assigned, though I suppose confirmation wouldn't hurt.
( he's not going to ask tori to Do Anything, in short. that would be a pretty big burden to set upon him, and it's something rei should take care of himself.
... he wriggles his waist a little. )
I believe it's coming back . . . I'll try to pull up again, if that's all right.
[what can't use their legs... merrow..? no, that's only with water, and if it's just been happening the way it has now then it shouldn't be that... he can consult his books when he's in the physical room but for now, tori's steadying himself.]
Okay, I'm ready. You should've mentioned this in the first place, you know~? I would've gotten you a wheelchair.
[he's only meanish rn bc he's fussy, don't worry,]
( gently...! pulling himself up! it's a wobbly effort, and it seems for a second like he's about to go down again, but he manages to catch himself with uncool, trembling legs and get himself up (definitely with tori's help). )
A wheelchair is a dangerous temptation. If I got on one, I think I might never get off it.
( it's a matter of pride he didn't want to ask an underclassman for a wheelchair... though he guesses he's getting karma for it, and he knows he deserves the scolding.
but also he probably really would never get off if he never had to get up again. ironic, given he should probably be valuing his legs while he still has them.
when he's up, he's a bit fawn-like in his stance as he pauses to see if he has himself steady, but everything seems... okay? for the moment. )
... Thank you, boy. More genuinely, I didn't think it would occur again so soon . . .
( meaning the same thing happened not long before he got here, and it also didn't start out as frequent. )

You have to tell a doctor everything when you arrive, Sakuma-senpai. Especially if they make us both hit the ground like that.
[his poor, adorable self. if the witches don't have something a little more permanently helpful for rei, tori's getting him a wheelchair no buts about it. it's patient and doctor safety.
... but for now, he'll trudge along with rei to a door (checking to make sure his senior's okay from the corner of his eye) and then letting them both in, helping him to the inspection table if rei needs it so tori can actually look through the file to see what's already there and might need checking on... on top of the things he needs now, like something for his legs.
and getting him a tissue for his nosebleed.]
Even if I'm younger than you, I'm the one who's taking care of you right now, so behave, okay~? It'd be bad if Ritsu-senpai and Oogami-senpai were star patients compared to someone as old as you. Don't underestimate me. And let me know if you need anything else.
( there's something refreshing about the way tori scolds him, even if rei's state is awful sorry... it's less that he enjoys being so pathetic (in a genuine sense) and more that he enjoys the earnest vigor in tori's manner. ah, to be young...
he does need the help up, and, gratefully, he takes the tissue for his bloody nose, which was erring dangerously near his lips. his nose looks a little bruised from the impact, but largely because the area was already tender. )
Kuku, elderly patients are often the worst to deal with, as you'll find. ( temperamental oldies set in their ways . . . but rei has some sympathy for tori, so serious about doing his job despite being clearly ill-equipped. it would make it rude to suggest tori switch out for a more experienced nurse. ) But even someone my age knows to behave when they receive such a verbal thrashing, so I suppose I have no choice but to submit to your doctoral authority.
( is what he says, but he's a little pensive, still, when tori picks up his record.
his file... is something, for sure.

... Okay, so, your legs doing that... thing is probably because you're turning more, so don't try and fight it any, got it? notable things he checkin for... naga-like qualities, like further development of his venom nodes and fangs, scales... looking at his eyes and seeing if he has a cool forked tongue... stuff like that. if there's any secondary non-snake traits too. while asking questions.]
Have you been getting worse with the cold lately, senpai? It's summertime so it shouldn't be too bad for you, [ahahaha,] but it's still a little cool in the mornings, so you ha~ve to make sure you're taking care of yourself properly.
[he's. also gonna make sure the rest of those injuries are healing properly. like rei's nose, which he feels bad about now even if it's not his fault if it got broken again.]
( it's unclear whether tori chooses not to remark on anything because the full content simply isn't available to a witch at his level or because he had seen it and had simply chosen not to comment is unclear to rei, but he does suppose from tori's hesitant look that tori had seen something, and he regrets the burden of knowledge he'd forced tori to accept by his coming.
in general good news, rei is healing up fine! yay! no new injuries or adverse conditions to note, and he's been otherwise been following doctor instructions, aside from the recommendation that he stay. it's a little unpleasant, probably, to see skin healing up over an injury, but that's the worst of it. it's apparent the injuries and bruising and their dressings are what he's covering with his long collar and sleeves.
in terms of monster traits - he has no fangies at all! jk, they're just folded back as is common in snakes with super long fangs. he otherwise seems... normal? except that some patches of his skin are a little firmer than the rest; they're not discolored, so you have to find them by touching, but it seems like something (scales, if tori's read up on it) is growing there. )
Mmmm . . . I do find it difficult to wake up, in a way different than before, no matter how many blankets I have on . . . Rather, that just seems to dehydrate me. I suppose that's why I've been attracted to warmer fixtures while I've been awake...?
